KONE Elevator India is partnering with Chitkara University in Punjab to offer a three-year degree program in Mechanical Engineering with a vertical-transportation (VT) focus, The New Indian Express reports. Touting the program as unique, KONE Elevator India Managing Director Amit Gossain said the VT industry needs R&D and manpower, which the program will help deliver. It consists of eight courses that combine classroom, lab and hands-on learning. During the final year, students are offered a five-month internship at KONE India, which, the source says, "will ensure practical immersion by allowing them to learn manufacturing, installation, commissioning and maintenance."
