An elevator in São Paulo fell from the ninth floor of a military apartment building on December 31, 2019, crashing into the pit and killing four family members inside the car, the Daily Mail reports. The victims, a woman, her sister, her brother-in-law and the couple's son, were riding up the elevator as they were heading to a New Year's Eve party when the car suddenly fell. The elevator had been inspected and put back into service on December 23, a navy spokesman said, adding that the unit was up to date on its maintenance. Authorities have ordered an investigation into the crash.
